Swordtember: Six

For those just joining, here are the prompts I’m using: One here and one here.

The Fallen Star

Wishing doesn’t make it true,
But every word I said to you
Was born of love yet light as dew
But strong and supple as the yew
That grew so high between us two
And bound me ever to only you.

Clock

Time keeps leaping
Time keeps soaring
Open your mouth
It’s mourning.

Hands aswirling
Days unfurling
Open your eyes
It’s dying.

When I came to Ishigumi
On a gloaming winter mourning
Heart acracked and flurries swooning
I pulled from pockets deep
The gears that made me weep
And told the gods of Yew and Stone
Of the long alone
They spoke in wind and rain and snow
“Open your heart
It’s ending.”

Feline / Canine

Round and round
They bite and bound
And snarl and hiss
Such fear, such bliss!

Slash and bite
Scream and fight
And when all seems blight
They kiss so bright

Holding tight

Reliquary

“Never speak a word to me,”
My father’s spoke so solemnly,
On the final days we knew,
On the only days with you,
“til the day burns us free,
Til this fog leaves us be.”

We walked the winding ways
with wyrding words weaving days
we never thought would end,
that never yet would mend.

There the bones within the deep
Where forever the nameless sleep
Lie the saints and lords
Past stone and ancient wards
“Come collect their bones with me,”
He spoke, my father, so desperately.
