Final Days of Kickstarter!

We’re in the final days of the kickstarter for my illustrated sword & sorcery novel The Adventures of Horus & Motherfucker!

If you’ve been on the fence about backing, it’s time to choose a side, my friends! The campaign officially ends on August 7th at 1:03pm CST, which gives you just over two days from when this email hits your inbox!

As I write this, we’re just past the $1,500 on the kickstarter, which ain’t too shabby! I’m pretty pleased with it, anyway. Though it sure would be neat to hit that stretch goal (and maybe even the second one!). I’m a big fan of the art Tony did for the novel and I’d love to have even more of it. Possibly as much as one piece per chapter.

But we only get there by blowing through the next two stretch goals! So if you like what you see and want to see it become an even cooler book, help spread the word. Share it with friends and whoever you can think of that might be into some wild sword & sorcery fun.

Oh, I almost forgot: there was an early review that came out last week.

Some choice quotes:

This novel, I believe, is in sort of a new tradition of S&S where the trappings of Weird Fantasy are used to explore deeper philosophies.”

“To me, “The Adventures of H&M” feels like it was written by Clark Ashton Smith if he grew up in the 90’s and probably did some acid.”

“In a way, this scene reminded my of the film “Princess Mononoke” in that these human-sized protagonists stand off against a much larger and monstrous opponent. I could envision this playing out in that iconic Hayao Miyazaki art style.”

Very pleased with this kind of early reaction and reception.

But really and truly, if you want to get your hands on this book, the only way to do it will be to back the kickstarter or stumble into me in person.

Anyway, beyond the kickstarter, I’ve begun work on a new novel and I began blogging here most days about the process of writing the novel (I accidentally sent one of these out as a newsletter last week – oops!). If that’s the kind of thing that interests you, check out the posts here. This is something I’ve never done before, but I like doing it.

I think there’s a lot of value in describing your process, to the degree that you’re able, and so I hope it’s helpful to aspiring artists, writers, and just whoever.

Anyway, do check out the kickstarter before the campaign ends! It’s fully funded so we’re all set to get this printed and shipped. Just gotta work out how many copies to print and then gotta ship them out to each and every one of you once the campaign ends.
